You Can’t Tell Me What to Do!

OK, maybe you can. I started real blogging on Blogsome, and for the most part I liked it. I’ve also experimented with Blogger, and found it not customizable enough (for what I can remember). I was excited about Wordpress until I realized I had to pay to alter my coding and I couldn’t put up Google Ads.

So back to Blogsome. Except that I can’t install nifty plugins. WTF? What’s a good blogging platform I can use that has the nice interface of Wordpress/Blogsome but a customizing capability that’s not overwhelming? I don’t want to build anything from scratch here–I just want a cool blog that has my touch. And sweet doodads.

Spark My Blog

I’m rethinking this whole grad school thing. What if I do want to blog for a living? I’m not sure I can picture myself being a professor, studying for the lit GRE (and taking it), being scholarly for the rest of my days.

What I’d like to do before class starts up again is makeover my personal blog and think about my own niche blog to work on, something on which I can put Google Ads and that people will actually want to read. Who knows? Maybe I’ll return to sex. I’ve had many brief stints. Now I need something to maintain until I graduate.

Maybe something literary, like Sparknotes but with a brain and some soul. A guide to English literature. Promising, n’est-ce pas?

As the Kids Say, This Is How It Do

Hello. It’s been so long since I’ve been able to blog for myself, and quite frankly, it’s a bit scary.

Now that it’s Monday, December 10, I am no longer Clog editor. I’m not sure if I am happy or sad about that. I’m going to have a hard time relinquishing control, but I will enjoy not having to take it up the ass twice a week during senior editorial board meetings. Who knows? I may go back to editing the Clog in a few semesters. Or maybe start a rival blog.

I’ve also finished out my tenure as Sex on Tuesday, so you won’t find any more official columns here. I may write some informal stuff, but certainly nothing hosted by the Daily Cal. There are reasons why I’m not continuing, but above all I feel forced out, like the Daily Cal is so used to turning people away each semester that it’s scared when someone wants to continue for more than a year.

For next semester, I’ll still be a Daily Cal minion. I’ll blog for the Clog and serve as an unofficial go-to person for the paper’s venture into blogging. I’ll apply for the Arts section. But most all, I’m just waiting for the next big thing to come around.

Closed for Business

I’m taking a little vacay from the sex blog world. It’s winter break, I’m not in school, and my mind needs to reboot — ya hear?

To be quite honest, these magic fingers don’t want to be racing ‘cross a keyboard right now. Did I mention I’m on vacation?

Check back in a week, around the 1st, and I’ll have a resolution-type post ready for my sexies. I declare 2007 the year for sex (like any other). See you next year!

Meanwhile, you can check me out on CalStuff, writing about inane Berkeley news while everyone is gone.

Don’t Be Shy

As much as I enjoy contributing to this blog, your contribution makes the whole process tenfold more exciting and fun. I’d love to get any feedback on my posts. Please tell me what other topics you would like addressed, what you disagree with, what you found informative, etc. Comments can be anonymous - just don’t fill out any of your information.

One of the purposes of this blog is to create and maintain an open space for a dialogue on sex. No, not a monologue. Though I may guide the discussion, it’s only to facilitate a response from my audience. Feel free to say what you want. (However, degrading or inflammatory comments will be deleted.)
